Events to remember the fallen were held across the UK, a century after the very first Armistice Day in 1919.

Devonport held its own commemorations for Armistice Day (Picture: Royal Navy).

Armistice Day has been marked with events held across the UK.

A two-minute silence took place across the country at 11am on Monday morning - 100 years after the very first two-minute silence was held in 1919.

A number of political figures were involved in commemorations, while the Royal British Legion asked that people paused by muting their telephones, closing laptops, switching off television sets "for just two minutes and pay your respects to our Armed Forces community, past and present".

It comes after Remembrance events at the weekend, which included hundreds of serving military personnel and veterans in a National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in central London.

Here are just a few images from commemorations which have taken place during Armistice Day 2019.
