Red Arrows OC Remembers 'Colleague And Close Friend' Jon Egging 10 Years After His Death

Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging died on 20 August 2011, during a display with the Red Arrows at the Bournemouth Air Festival.

The Red Arrows have honoured the legacy of a team pilot on the 10th anniversary of his death.

Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging died on 20 August 2011 during a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival, but left behind an organisation set up to inspire young people.

Wing Commander David Montenegro, Officer Commanding the RAF Aerobatic Team, has reflected on the work of the Jon Egging Trust – set up by his wife Emma and named after the Red 4 pilot.

In the aftermath of the pilot's death, the trust has "made real differences to the career paths and the life opportunities of 30,000 young people since 2011", said Wg Cdr Montenegro.
