The move of RAF Mildenhall from the UK has been delayed by two years, the US Air Force (USAF) has announced.
The 100th Air Refueling Wing, who are currently based at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, will be moving to Ramstein Air Base in Germany in a bid to save money.
However, the move has been delayed due to continuing discussions between officials from the US and Germany.
The base, which serves as a USAF transport hub, is currently home to 3,200 military personnel and around 500 civilian staff. A spokesman said:
"The process of moving personnel and assets from RAF Mildenhall to bases in Germany has been delayed by 24 months because of discussions between the United States and Germany pertaining to program management, procedures and responsibilities."
The move has now been delayed to 2024.
