The band of the Grenadier Guards performed Queen's hit in front of Buckingham Palace on Monday afternoon.

The 1975 hit is the third bestselling single in UK history.

The performance came less than 24 hours after the film Bohemian Rhapsody won two Golden Globe Awards, prompting some to speculate the military rendition was a tribute to the film.

The box office hit, starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, was awarded the gongs for Best Actor - Drama, and Best Motion Picture - Drama at the Hollywood ceremony on Sunday evening.

The film charts the life of Queen lead singer, Freddie Mercury, from his teenage years to the band's renowned performance at Live Aid in 1985.

The MOD and the British Army were not immediately able to say if the performance was a tribute to the film's success.
