Members of the Prince of Wales's Company were recognised in Windsor following deployment to Iraq.

The Prince of Wales has handed Operation Shader service medals to members of His Royal Highness' Company, following their deployment to Iraq to help defeat ISIS across the Middle East.

Members of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, including The Prince of Wales's Company, were deployed on Operation Shader 13 to Iraq, Kuwait and Cyprus to work with coalition partners.

The Prince of Wales's Company were deployed to Erbil in northern Iraq, conducting tactical vehicle patrols and working with Iraqi forces.

Members of the battalion helped train them and conducted resupply missions.

Many were deployed for six months, including a two-week rest, and returned in December, although the Welsh Guards remain deployed on the counter-terror mission until June 2022.

Shortly after the ceremony, The Prince of Wales's Company will deploy to Kenya on exercise for six weeks.
