Navy Rugby Star Dies Aged 33

Kyle Mason was the most capped front row player in the history of the Royal Navy Rugby Union.

A star Royal Navy rugby player has died at the age of 33.

Kyle Mason was a fireman based at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall and appeared 29 times for the Navy team.

During his time with the team, Mason won two Inter Services Championships and also received 34 international caps for Malta.

He made his debut for the Navy’s first team in 2007 and was a cornerstone of the side that won the Inter Services title in 2010.

As a Leading Airman he served on deployments around the world on ships including HMS Bulwark and HMS Ocean.

Kyle's death was confirmed by the Navy on Tuesday evening.

Since then, tributes have continued to be left via social media.
