General Election 2019: UUP In Favour Of Keeping Trident

UUP leader and Royal Navy veteran Steve Aiken launched his party's manifesto in Belfast.

The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) is supporting keeping the UK's Trident nuclear deterrent in its General Election manifesto.

The UUP also says UK defence spending should meet the NATO target of 2% of national GDP.

The party is supporting bespoke measures to ensure the Armed Forces Covenant is fully compliant in Northern Ireland.

At Wednesday's launch, leader, and former submariner, Steve Aiken said his party is offering a progressive pro-union option for voters.
