Former Marine First To Complete Gruelling Lake District Challenge Barefoot

A Royal Marine veteran has become the first person to run the Lake District's famed Bob Graham Round barefoot.

'Disney RM', as he is known on social media, completed 66 miles, covering 42 fells, a variety of treacherous terrain and ascended 26,900ft – which is nearly the height of Everest.

He took on the endeavour as a personal challenge but also to raise money for The Royal Marines Charity and Rock 2 Recovery UK.

Disney, who served nine years in the Royal Marines, says he is "ready for any challenge" (Picture: Disney RM).

Speaking of his motivation to Jo Thoenes on BFBS, the Forces Station, Disney RM said it was:

"To push myself, to better myself, to become a better me but that in itself was there to then inspire others to set their own challenges to become a better them.

"I do get reached out to by a lot of people. It's such a positive thing."

Completing the epic route in just under 33 hours, Disney RM is already planning his next adventure.

He said: "There will now be a slight rest in my feet but I think I am going to hit the ground running.

"I feel that I really want to train for something I haven't done before... and will look at doing my next challenge in London."
