Riders dressed in period uniforms and carrying period weapons, have set out to retrace the route taken by thousands of men and horses of the British Expeditionary Force during the Great War.

The path they are treading recreates the Retreat from Mons, with each rider representing a unit that formed part of the Cavalry Division in 1914.

Our reporter Hannah King was there as they set off on the War Horse Ride, raising funds for the military charity, the Not Forgotten Association, on the way.
