A father has celebrated what is thought could be a first for the British Army infantry when he welcomed his daughter into the Yorkshire Regiment.
2 YORKS Colour Sergeant Ryan Hanson will be joined by his daughter 1 YORKS Private Jadyn-Olivya Hanson after she recently passed out.
In a post on Twitter, the official Yorkshire Regiment account posted their "many congrats", next to an image of the Hanson father and daughter.
Twitter users also expressed their good wishes to the newest member of the regimental family.
One said: "That is fantastic news, congratulations on a justified proud Dad moment! Well done to both."
Another said: "Fabulous!!! #thisgirlcan", with another user simply adding: "#prouddad."
It is unclear whether or not this is the first time this has happened but, either way, one user was quick to say: "Awesome proud Dad moment. I'd put £££££££ on this being a first."
In June, the Yorkshire Regiment celebrated 15 years since it was formed of three historic regiments – The Prince of Wales's Own, The Green Howards and The Duke of Wellington's.
The present-day formation's origins stretch back hundreds of years, with the Yorkshire Regiment traditionally being made up of infantry personnel.
