Tobias Ellwood has said the Government needs to invest 'in better accommodation, better support and better mental health facilities' (Picture: Royal Navy).
Defence minister Tobias Ellwood has told MPs he has made the case for more money to help meet the aims of the Armed Forces Covenant.
The minister for Defence People and Veterans told members of the Defence Committee that the defence budget was for taking care of servicemen and women and not just for military kit and deployments.
"It's not just about equipment. It's not just about operations. It's about looking after the welfare of our people."
"I've underlined the case," he continued.
"We do need to invest in the better accommodation, in better support, in better mental health facilities and greater support for veteran communities as well."
