Could Tracks On Military Vehicles Be A Thing Of The Past?

The wheeled Mobility Test Rig can climb obstacles and cross gaps only tracked vehicles have been able to in the past.

Slow-moving, heavy tracked battlefield vehicles may about to become a thing of the past

Scientists and engineers are working on a replacement, improving the mobility of both military vehicles and troops in all terrains.

The result? The Mobility Test Rig or MTR.

The MTR is the end product of a project looking to create a wheeled military vehicle capable of going where others have not before.

This means it can climb obstacles and cross gaps only tracked vehicles have been able to in the past – as well as making the vehicle fast and agile.
