The ceremonial Changing of the Guard has been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The spectacle, which takes place at London's Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace, as well as Windsor Castle, is being postponed until further notice "in line with Government advice to avoid mass gatherings".

The ceremony has been suspended "until further notice", a Buckingham Palace statement added.

The advice will be reviewed on an "ongoing basis" and service will restart "when appropriate".

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the UK have surpassed 3,000, with deaths nearing 150.

The Government has recommended people who show symptoms to self-isolate and people who show no symptoms to practice social distancing.
