The United Kingdom's ambassador to the United States has asked her "military advisers" to settle a tea debate which has been taking place over social media.
It follows a video was uploaded last month with a guide of how to make a brew, by a woman who describes herself as an "American living in the UK".
Her video, which has more than two million views, shows how to make "hot tea or British tea".
The recipe involves using a microwave, pouring in the milk before the tea bag and using a generous amount of sugar, prompting a lot of reaction on social media.
The UK ambassador to the US, Karen Pierce, has responded to the "number of requests to show how to make a real cup of tea" on Twitter.
Ms Pierce starts the video by saying: "The Anglo-American relationship is defined by tea," before handing over to British tri-service personnel, who show how to make tea in a variety of scenarios.
Their advice includes: "You don't need a microwave to make a cup of tea."
Woody Johnson, US Ambassador to the UK, has since joined the debate, having tweeting Ms Pierce on how to make "an American cup of coffee".
