Veteran Calls For Donations To Help Afghans Relocating To UK

A retired major is appealing for donations of everyday items to help Afghans relocating to the UK.

It comes as some veterans’ groups launch campaigns to help people who made it onto evacuation flights, but left everything they had, behind.

Retired Major Andrew Fox has been speaking to James Hirst about his involvement.

The final UK service personnel left Afghanistan on Saturday after a 20-year campaign in the country, with the Taliban now in control.

The UK also completed its final evacuation flight purely for Afghan civilians on Saturday.

The RAF tripled the normal capacity of a C-17 Globemaster on a daily basis during its evacuation flights from Kabul.

As the last British troops withdrew from Kabul, Royal Navy chief, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin praised personnel and said their mission of stopping "al-Qaeda exporting terrorism" from Afghanistan to the UK has been "achieved”.
