100 Years of Women In the Forces Marked

The centenary of women serving in the forces was commemorated by a special event at the Yorkshire Air Museum yesterday.

Women’s Services Day commemorates the contribution and sacrifice made by women across more than a century of conflict.

The Parade marched through the Museum to a Wreath Laying Ceremony in the museum’s memorial garden.

The Women’s Army Auxillary Corp was founded in July 1917, followed by the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRENS) and the Women’s Royal Airforce.
