US military tests ability to rapidly deploy combat-ready troops to Europe
US forces are training in southern Romania, less than 100 miles from the Ukrainian border, on Exercise Saber Guardian.
It is the biggest Black Sea region exercise this year, involving 2,400 US troops on the ground alongside 7,300 from 10 other countries, including Nato allies.
It is the last of three annual large-scale multinational exercises linked to Defender Europe, which involves 20 nations including the UK, that tests America’s ability to rapidly reinforce Europe in a crisis.
In the video above, troops can be seen crossing the Danube as part of Saber Guardian with the goal of the training to send a message that units are capable and ready.
