A Second World War veteran, who took part in the D-Day landings, has turned 100.

John Bell served as a bomb aimer in all of the operations in Bomber Command.

The Wing Commander joined the RAF in 1940.

Speaking on Remembrance Day last year, he said when he joined the RAF, he had one thing in mind.

"And that was the aircraft from Germany, flying over London, were going to get something back when I joined," he said.
