£33m veterans support package expected from Chancellor Jeremy Hunt
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is expected to announce a £33m funding package in today's budget to support veterans over the next three years.
Most of the funding package (£20m) will reportedly go towards the Veteran Capital Housing Fund – a project that will provide extra housing for veterans through the development of new builds and the refurbishment of social and charitable housing for veterans.
Funding in the amount of £3m is expected to be extended to the Office for Veterans' Affairs and the Veterans Mobility Fund – which provides enduring support for veterans with serious physical injuries resulting from their service.

The fund will provide dedicated equipment for hundreds of eligible veterans, including specialist wheelchairs and orthotics – such as braces, splints and helmets, which are not usually available via the NHS or through the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
The remaining £10m will go to the Office for Veterans' Affairs to increase the service and engagement provided to veterans over the next two years.
This comes on top of an £8.5m package announced last year to end veteran homelessness.
Mr Hunt said: "We all owe our veterans a huge amount of gratitude for defending democracy and keeping our country safe – and it's only right that we provide them with all the support they need when they come home.
"This Government is firmly on the side of our veterans, and this week I'll set out a comprehensive package of policies that will solidify our enduring commitment to our ex-servicemen and women for years to come."
