Help For Heroes and Walking With The Wounded raise money to support veterans.

Two of the UK's military charities are claiming the season of goodwill does not extend to donations.

A survey of 2,000 people by Walking With The Wounded and Help the Heroes found 77% of respondents do not donate to any military charities over the holiday period.

The charities say the figure is at odds with other findings in the survey, which points to 39% of those polled saying mental health issues, and 27% citing social isolation, as the biggest issues veteran’s face at Christmas.

The research comes ahead of fundraising events being staged in London by the two charities to persuade people to take part in a sponsored walk from December 13-23.
