The RAF Centre of Aviation Medicine (CAM) based at RAF Henlow reached out to Forces Live Events (CSE) for support organising their team building/de-stress afternoon of go-karting.
The military entertainment specialists are always on the lookout for inventive ways to help boost the morale of the Forces and were excited to get involved in something new.
CAM is made up of three wings - Aviation Medicine Wing, Occupational and Environmental Wing and Support Wing.
They carry out aircraft integrations on aircrew equipment and at short notice can be called out to locations all over the UK and abroad and are very rarely in the same location at the same time.
Between this and the goal of breaking down barriers essential in forming strong working relationships unique to service life, CSE were delighted to have the opportunity to work with CAM to develop this activity.
CPO SET Oliver said:
“The impact of this type of event on serving individuals can’t be overstated"
"We constantly ask more and more of our people, particularly in this sector, which allows little time for team cohesive activities. I have no doubt that this will have a positive effect on our output as happy people are more productive.
"Additionally, it makes our section a more desirable place to be, knowing that we hold quality events such as this one.”
The karting took place at Teamworks Karting in Letchworth where they had 5 competitive and fun race heats for each driver with the top 8 going through to the final.
In the end, when the dust had settled, Mark Bradley was crowned the RAF Henlow Champion.
CPO SET Oliver finished off by saying:
“Service life, at times, can be difficult however it is made much better when charities like yours facilitate much needed respite.”
