A number of commemorative events have been taking place today to honour the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Royalty, world leaders and thousands of serving members of the Armed Forces joined D-Day veterans in the commemorative events in France, with other events taking place around the UK.

Prime Minister Theresa May joined the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall for a service of remembrance at Bayeux Cathedral, followed by a second service to lay wreaths at Bayeux War Cemetery - the largest Commonwealth War Graves Commission site of the Second World War.

Services began at 6.26am this morning (7.26am French local time), when British Army personnel marked the exact moment the first British Soldier landed on Gold Beach.
