Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day: Scarborough Castle marks the 100-day countdown

With 100 days to go until Armed Forces Day, Scarborough – on its third attempt – is finally able to host the flagship event.

Royal Marines Commandos abseiled down the town's castle, unfurling the Armed Forces Day flag, and a Royal Navy Merlin helicopter made an appearance with a flypast to the delight of the crowds.

The last Armed Forces Day was back in 2019 with the next two cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, and this was Scarborough's third attempt to host.

Armed Forces Day, on the last Saturday of June each year – 25 June in 2022 – is a chance to show support to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
