Businesses in Scotland are being encouraged to employ veterans after they leave the military.

The Capitalising On Military Talent toolkit by Business In The Community was launched at an event at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.

It is hoped the information pack will make it easier for service leavers to pursue a career in business by informing employers about the benefits of hiring someone with a military background.

The toolkit aims to give employers more information about the skills former military personnel can bring to their workplace.

Attributes like leadership, reliability, problem solving under pressure and being able to adapt to different situations are all highlighted in the document.

It was written in partnership with military recruitment specialists Salute My Job with input from companies like BT, Standard Life, Fujitsu, and the NHS.

And as well as encouraging businesses to take an interest in veterans - it is hoped the toolkit will provide a pathway for more veterans to enter a career in the business world after the military,
