It's a link that has gone back over 30 years but three members of the current volunteer team from Blandford Camp's Royal Corps of Signals have received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QVS) for their work with the Swanage Railway.

During that time more than 2,000 soldiers from The Royal Corps of Signals have taken part in exercises which have helped rebuild and improve the infrastructure of The Swanage Railway.

This enthusiast led venture reached a major milestone this year with much celebration after having their track joined again with the main Railway network - helped in no small part by the spare time given up by Signallers.

One of the QVS recipients is SSgt Clint Sherratt who has devoted a lot of his attention to one particular part of the Swanage line that has become a military project in itself as he explained to BFBS Blandford's Jason Herbert.
