US veterans & personnel Invictus Games 2017

Sgt Gabby Graves-Wake (right) left the searing heat in Arizona for the surprisingly hot city of Toronto to become the master of her own fate and compete in the Invictus Games.

The games in Canada were held during record temperatures but the Phoenix native representing team USA felt right at home.

Gabby spent five years in the US Marine Corps only leaving the service after a noncombat motorcycle injury, she is now a dedicated athlete competing in a range of sports.

Hal Stewart asked her about her love for the ice as a way of evading that baking sun.
