A US Air Force Airman has died at RAF Feltwell.

Staff Sgt. Ivone Rios was found "unconscious in their work space" on Monday, September 11, according to a US Air Force spokesperson.

Rios was a cyber transport systems maintainer assigned to American Forces Network - the United Kingdom, a tenant unit of the 48th Fighter Wing.

The unit provides military liaison to the UK's government for all US visiting forces.

According to the spokesperson, attempts by emergency responders to revive the airman were unsuccessful:

"On behalf of the Liberty Wing, we offer our deepest condolences to Staff Sgt. Rios’ family and friends during this difficult time."

The cause of death is currently unknown and an investigation is under way.

The 48th Fighter Wing is the United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE)'s only F-15 fighter wing and the foundation of its combat capability.

Since the attacks of September 11, they have played a key role in anti-terrorism operations.

The USAFE operates several other bases in the UK, including RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire.
