Scott Hetherington

The body of a British soldier killed in Iraq will be repatriated to RAF Brize Norton tomorrow (Thursday 12th).

The aircraft carrying the body of Lance Corporal Scott Hetherington, of 2nd Battalion Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, will land at around 13.30pm UK time.

The cortege will then pass the Memorial Garden in Carterton, before heading to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Lance Corporal Hetherington was killed during a 'live fire incident' at Camp Taji, which lies north of Baghdad, at the beginning of the month.

The vehicle commander from 2 LANCS had recently become a father.

He was part of a 500-strong British Army force currently training Iraqi and Kurdish security forces in the fight against the so-called Islamic State (IS).

2 LANCS soldiers are providing protection to the troops doing the training.
