A British soldier is in hospital after he was reportedly shot in the hand during a training exercise in Cyprus.
Local media say the shooting happened at 7pm yesterday evening on the Pyla ranges near Dhekelia.
It is reported that the soldier, who’s not been identified, was flown by helicopter to Nicosia General Hospital.
In a statement, a Bases spokesman said the injured serviceman was in a stable condition.
An army spokesman said:
"We are aware of an incident involving a British soldier that occurred during a training exercise earlier today in Cyprus. The solder involved was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition. A thorough investigation is underway and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this point.”
