Danny McCrudden joined the Royal Navy in 1943 at the age of 15.  He wanted to help the war effort.  Little did he know that a few years later he would be given the opportunity of a lifetime to share the stage with Dame Vera Lynn at the Lyceum on the Strand.

During the war the now 92-year-old was asked to get a show together to entertain his comrades.  Along with a friend, they got 39 acts to perform to the fleet.

Danny told Forces News:

"We had our own dancing girls…there were singers, comedians and we gave shows to half of the fleet.  That was my life for most of my time in the Navy…I think it kept me going, because it took my mind away from the war".

So, in 1946 when Danny was offered the chance to share the stage with the Forces Sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn he jumped at the chance.  It was for a show at the Lyceum on the Strand in London.

Danny, accompanied by a 15-piece orchestra sang ‘ I'll Make Up for Everything’.  He has very fond memories of that night and still enjoys singing it today.
