Back in 1982 the Admiralty released a briefing film for NATO allies to explain just who and what the Royal Marines were.

The 25 minute video outlined the organisation's history, its operational roles, activities and infamous training regime.

Featuring footage from Norway to Northern Ireland to Belize it offers a rare snapshot in time of one of the world's great fighting forces.

It's publication also coincided with one of the Royal Marines most notable achievements - their 56 mile (90km) 'yomp' from San Carlos on East Falkland to the capital Port Stanley, completed in just three days with each commando carrying an 80-pound (36 kg) load.
