Tactical Medical Wing gets a treat

When we were contacted by The Tactical Medical Wing (TMW) at RAF Brize Norton they were looking for a band to perform at their Friends and Families Day, for an audience ranging from babies up to grandparents. The outdoor event was also fundraising for the RAF Benevolent Fund and RAF Brize Norton Pre School.

While TMW had some things in place, they mentioned some nice to haves that were out of their budget. They wanted to give back to their families after a tough year, and on learning their serving parents were often deployed, with some only being at home for 8 weeks in the last 12 months, we funded some additional beneficiary elements to their event including event management, as well as booking music duo Bandana, who performed family friendly sets and interacted with some special guests.

We invited Minnie and Mickey Mouse as our first VIPS, who delighted the younger children.

Princess Elsa and Anna, along with Spiderman met everyone, posing for photographs, blowing bubbles and doing action hero poses. They even performed ‘Let It Go’ with Bandana, showing the children some dance moves before they went home.

The last special guest was a minion, who arrived to Bandana singing ‘Happy’, and was as popular with the adults as with the kids.

To help TMW fundraise for their chosen charities, our popcorn and candyfloss stall, and glitter tattooist all had collecting buckets for voluntary donations.

The children’s characters were so successful we were asked to provide more characters for Brizefest a few weeks later, to help keep everyone entertained while they queued for the various attractions for the station wide Friends and Families’ day.
